CVC of CMSA History

The Central Virginia Chapter of CMSA became a corporation on December 5, 1995 with the District of Columbia. Founding Members of our Chapter were Dawn Lynch Benninghove, Doreen Schlimmer, Sheron Jefferson, Patsy Bulifant, Robin Metcalf, John Hughes, Karen Trinkle, Sharan Goodman, Jeff Simmons, Sallie Childers, Sabrina Edwards, Carol Zasler, Betty Overbey, Diane York, Loretta Reardon and Cindy Stein, just to name a few. Our mission is to enhance the growth and value of Case Management, and support the evolving needs of the Case Management Profession by providing educational forums and networking opportunities. We began our membership with 30 members and have grown to over 74 (and are still growing). We Invite you to attend our Educational Meetings, Join CMSA and Get Involved!!

The Case Management Society of America is the leading membership association providing professional collaboration across the healthcare continuum to advocate for patients’ wellbeing and improved health outcomes by fostering case management growth and development, impacting health care policy, and providing evidence-based tools and resources.

Care managers are advocates who help patients understand their current health status, what they can do about it and why those treatments are important. In this way, care managers are catalysts by guiding patients and providing cohesion to other professionals in the health care delivery team, enabling their clients to achieve goals more effectively and efficiently.
